Ingredients
- 1 lb frozen pizza dough
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1 cup shredded italian cheese blend
- 8 oz bulk spicy pork sausage
- 1/3 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
- optional: minced fresh basil
Steps
- Heat the oven to 425 F and warm the olive oil in a 5-quart Dutch oven over medium heat.
- Cook the sausage, onion, and mushrooms for 8 minutes, breaking up the sausage until it reaches 160 F.
- Spread the marinara sauce over the cooked filling, then sprinkle on half the cheese.
- Stretch the thawed pizza dough over the filling and top it with the remaining cheese.
- Cover the Dutch oven and bake for 10 minutes, then uncover and bake for 7 minutes until the crust is cooked and golden.
