How the numbers work
Each recipe lists how much of every ingredient it uses. The calculator multiplies each amount by a price per pound, ounce or each, adds the lines and divides by servings. There is no rounding up to a whole package: it is the cost of what the recipe uses.
With a city and store picked, an ingredient on sale in that store's weekly ad uses the sale price and is marked. Everything else uses the store's shelf price we have, or a typical US price. Change any amount and the total updates.

Common questions
How do I work out the cost per serving of a recipe?
Add up what you pay for the amount of each ingredient the recipe uses, then divide by the number of servings. Use the amount used, not the whole package. This calculator does it for you.
Where do the prices come from?
Without a city, each ingredient uses Salefork's typical everyday US price. With a city and store, it uses that store's current weekly ad and shelf prices, and marks the items that are on sale.
Are oil, salt and spices counted?
Yes, at a typical price for the amount used. They cost pennies per serving, so they are listed last.
Can I paste my own recipe?
Yes. Paste one ingredient per line, such as "2 lb chicken thighs". Weights (lb, oz, g, kg) and counts are priced. Lines in cups or spoons are matched to an ingredient and marked so you can set the weight.
Turn these sales into dinners
Pick how many people are eating and how many dinners you want. We choose dinners that use what is on sale, show the cost, and make your shopping list by aisle.
