Ingredients

1 lb tomato
2 cloves garlic
2 tbsp piquin pepper
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 lb ground beef
1/2 cup white onion
2 cups nopales
1 tsp dried mexican oregano
1/4 cup cilantro
sal and pepper to taste (optional)

Steps

Boil the tomatoes and garlic in a small pot for 8 minutes, then blend them with the piquin pepper until smooth.
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and brown the ground beef for 8 minutes.
Add the onion and cook for 4 minutes, breaking up the beef until it reaches 160 F.
Stir in the tomato sauce, nopales, oregano, salt, and pepper.
Simmer uncovered over medium heat for 10 minutes, then stir in the cilantro.
