Ingredients
- 6 large eggs
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 16 oz cream cheese
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 lb fresh strawberries
- 1/3 cup chocolate chips (optional)
Steps
- Heat the oven to 350 F and grease a 9-by-13-inch baking pan with cooking oil.
- Beat the eggs and 1 cup sugar for 5 minutes, then fold in the flour and baking powder.
- Spread the batter in the pan and bake for 30 minutes, until the center is set.
- Cool the cake in the pan for 12 minutes, then cut it in half lengthwise.
- Beat the cream cheese, remaining sugar, and heavy cream until thick, then spread frosting and sliced strawberries between the layers and over the top.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips over the cake if using, and chill it for 5 minutes before cutting.
