Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 4 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp allspice
- 1 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp ground cloves
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 2 tbsp molasses
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups milk
Steps
- Heat the oven to 350 F and grease a 9-by-13-inch baking pan with oil.
- Whisk the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, cloves, and salt in a medium bowl.
- Beat the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth, then beat in the eggs, molasses, and vanilla.
- Stir the dry mixture into the butter mixture in three additions, alternating with the milk, until just combined.
- Spread the batter in the pan and bake for 30 to 35 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
