- 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 2/3 cup dutch cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 12 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tsp peppermint extract
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 oz cream cheese
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 1/4 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 tsp peppermint extract
- 3 tbsp finely crushed peppermint candy canes
Steps
- Heat the oven to 350 F and grease an 8-inch square baking pan.
- Whisk the flour, cocoa powder, and salt in a medium bowl.
- Melt the butter, stir in the sugar, then beat in the eggs, peppermint extract, and vanilla.
- Fold in the dry mixture, spread the batter in the pan, and bake for 25 to 30 minutes.
- Cool the brownies in the pan for 60 minutes.
- Beat the cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and peppermint extract until smooth, spread it over the brownies, and sprinkle on the crushed candy.
