- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 2 1/2 cups peanut butter
- 2 cups old fashioned oats
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup butter
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
Steps
- Heat the oven to 350 F and grease a 13-by-9-inch pan with cooking oil.
- Beat the butter, sugars, vanilla, eggs, and peanut butter until smooth, then mix in the oats, flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Press the batter evenly into the pan and bake for 18 to 22 minutes, until set.
- Melt the remaining butter, then stir in the powdered sugar, cocoa, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
- Cool the bars for 15 minutes, spread on the frosting, and cool for 10 more minutes before cutting.
