- 1 1/2 sticks unsalted butter softened to room temp
- 3/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cups mini semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
- 1 stick unsalted butter softened to room temp
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 1/2 tbsp heavy cream or heavy whipping cream
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/8 tsp salt
- assorted gel food coloring for colorful frosting
Steps
- Heat the oven to 350 F and line a large baking sheet with parchment.
- Beat the butter and sugars until smooth, then mix in the egg and vanilla.
- Whisk the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt, then stir them into the butter mixture.
- Fold in the chocolate chips, shape the dough into a 10-inch heart, and smooth the edges.
- Bake for 20 to 24 minutes, then cool completely on the baking sheet.
- Beat the frosting butter, powdered sugar, cream, vanilla, and salt, tint portions with food coloring, and pipe it over the cooled heart.
