- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened natural cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 3/4 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup boiling water
- 1 box (3 7/8 oz) instant chocolate pudding
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup cold water
- 4 cups heavy cream
- 2 tbsp confectioners' sugar
Steps
- Heat the oven to 350 F and grease an 8-inch square baking pan with cooking oil.
- Whisk the flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, salt, baking powder, and baking soda, then mix in the egg, oil, sour cream, vanilla, and boiling water.
- Bake the batter for 25 minutes, then cool the cake in the pan for 10 minutes.
- Whisk the pudding mix, condensed milk, and cold water until thick, then chill it for 5 minutes.
- Whip the heavy cream and confectioners' sugar until firm peaks form.
- Cut the cake into cubes and layer it with the pudding and whipped cream in a trifle dish.
