Typical price: Salefork's estimate of an everyday US shelf price for each ingredient. Pick your city to price it from this week's ad.

The amounts listed are small for a full dinner, so this price per serving is likely low. Plan on a side or a bigger portion.

Ingredients

  • 6 slices bacon
  • 1 onion
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • 2 cups peeled and diced potatoes
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups cooked chicken breast
  • 2 cups corn kernels
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • salt and pepper to taste (optional)

Steps

  1. Cook the bacon in a large pot over medium heat for 6 to 8 minutes, until crisp, then crumble it and leave 2 tablespoons of fat in the pot.
  2. Cook the onion and bell pepper in the bacon fat for 4 minutes, then add the garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  3. Add the potatoes and chicken broth, bring to a boil, then cover and simmer for 15 minutes until the potatoes are tender.
  4. Stir in the chicken and corn, and simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Add the cream, bacon, salt, and pepper, and heat over low heat for 5 minutes without boiling.
