Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 tsp baking powder
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 3/4 tsp cream of tartar
- 1/2 cup cold butter
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 clove garlic
- 3/8 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
- 5/8 cups 2% milk
Steps
- Heat the oven to 425 F and line a baking sheet.
- Whisk the flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and cream of tartar in a bowl.
- Cut in the cold butter until the mixture looks crumbly, then stir in the cheddar, garlic, and pepper flakes.
- Stir in the milk just until a soft dough forms, then pat it 1 inch thick and cut biscuits.
- Place the biscuits on the sheet and bake for 14 to 16 minutes, until golden.
- Rest the biscuits for 3 minutes before serving.
