Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp almond extract
- 2 1/4 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 2 1/2 tbsp heavy cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- few drops food coloring (optional)
Steps
- Heat the oven to 350 F and line a 9-by-13-inch pan with parchment.
- Whisk the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
- Beat 1 cup butter and granulated sugar until smooth, then mix in the eggs, vanilla, and almond extract.
- Stir in the dry mixture, spread the dough in the pan, and bake for 22 to 25 minutes.
- Cool the bars completely for about 45 minutes.
- Beat the remaining butter, powdered sugar, cream, and vanilla until smooth, tint with food coloring if desired, and spread over the bars.
