Ingredients
- 2 cups + 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp granulated sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 4 1/2 tbsp ice water
- 3/4 cup strawberry preserves
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp half and half (optional)
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
Steps
- Mix the flour, salt, and sugar in a bowl, cut in the butter, and stir in the ice water until dough forms.
- Divide the dough in half, wrap it, and chill it for 90 minutes.
- Roll each half on a floured surface, cut eight rectangles, fill four with preserves, and cover with the remaining rectangles.
- Seal the edges with a fork, place the pastries on a parchment-lined baking sheet, and chill them for 30 minutes.
- Heat the oven to 375 F and bake the pastries for 20 minutes, until lightly browned.
- Cool the pastries for 30 minutes, then stir the powdered sugar, half and half, and vanilla into a glaze and spread it over them.
