- 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 3/4 cup butter
- 6 tbsp buttermilk
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tbsp vanilla
Steps
- Heat the oven to 350 F and grease a 9-by-13-inch baking pan.
- Boil the water, first measure of butter, and peanut butter in a saucepan, then remove the pan from the heat.
- Whisk in the sugar, brown sugar, flour, salt, baking soda, eggs, first buttermilk, and first vanilla.
- Pour the batter into the pan and bake for 16 to 18 minutes, until the center springs back.
- Melt the second butter, second buttermilk, and second peanut butter in a saucepan, then stir in the powdered sugar and second vanilla.
- Spread the warm frosting over the hot cake and cool it for 5 minutes.
