Ingredients
- 1 chocolate cake mix
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 36 reese's mini peanut butter cups
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 tbsp milk (optional)
Steps
- Heat the oven to 350 F and line a 12-cup muffin pan plus a 4-cup pan.
- Beat the cake mix, eggs, sour cream, and oil until smooth, about 2 minutes.
- Fill the cups halfway, place one peanut butter cup in each, and cover with remaining batter.
- Bake for 18 to 22 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean, then cool for 5 minutes in the pans.
- Beat the butter, peanut butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until creamy, adding milk if needed.
- Frost the cooled cupcakes and press the remaining peanut butter cups, chopped if desired, over the tops.
