Ingredients
- 1 box (13 1/4 oz) betty crocker vanilla cake mix
- 1 cup milk
- 1 stick unsalted butter melted and slightly cooled
- 4 large eggs
- 3/4 tsp almond extract
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 sticks unsalted butter
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 2 1/2 tbsp heavy cream
- optional gel food coloring
Steps
- Heat the oven to 350 F and line a 24-cup mini muffin pan.
- Stir the cake mix, milk, melted butter, eggs, almond extract, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Divide the batter among the cups and bake for 15 minutes, until the cupcakes are firm.
- Cool the cupcakes in the pan for 5 minutes, then move them to a rack to cool completely.
- Beat the softened butter until smooth, then mix in the powdered sugar, vanilla, salt, and cream until fluffy.
- Spread the frosting over the cooled cupcakes.
