Ingredients
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup salted butter
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 3 1/2 cup unbleached all purpose flour
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1 egg (optional)
Steps
- Warm the milk, butter, and water in a saucepan until the butter melts and the mixture feels warm, not hot.
- Stir in the yeast and sugar, then rest the mixture for 5 minutes.
- Beat in the eggs, flour, and salt until a soft dough forms, then knead it for 8 minutes.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm spot for 60 minutes.
- Divide the dough into 12 pieces, shape them in a greased 9-by-13-inch pan, cover, and let them rise for 45 minutes.
- Heat the oven to 350 F, brush the tops with the optional egg, and bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden.
