Ingredients
- 4 oz bittersweet chocolate
- 1 1/2 cups 2 % or low fat milk
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- 1 cup + 2 tsp water
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 tsp granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 1 cup gluten-free all purpose flour
- 5 large eggs
- oil for frying (optional)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp vanilla powder (optional)
Steps
- Heat the water, butter, sugar, and salt in a medium saucepan over medium heat until boiling.
- Stir in the gluten-free flour until a thick dough forms, then cool it for 10 minutes.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time until the dough is smooth.
- Heat frying oil to 350 F in a deep saucepan and fry short dough strips for 2 to 3 minutes per side.
- Drain the churros and coat them with the cinnamon and sugar.
- Whisk the milk and cornstarch in a saucepan, heat until thickened, then stir in the chocolate and vanilla powder.
