Ingredients
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 1/2 cups vegetable or chicken broth
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 8 oz pasta
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup heavy cream or half and half (optional)
Steps
- Melt the butter in a 4-quart pot over medium heat and cook the garlic for 1 minute.
- Add the broth, milk, salt, and pasta, then bring the mixture to a boil.
- Reduce the heat and simmer uncovered for 12 to 14 minutes, stirring often, until the pasta is tender.
- Stir in the Parmesan and optional cream until smooth, then cook for 1 minute.
