Typical price

$1.59 per serving$6.35 for 4

Typical price: Salefork's estimate of an everyday US shelf price for each ingredient. Pick your city to price it from this week's ad.

The amounts listed are small for a full dinner, so this price per serving is likely low. Plan on a side or a bigger portion.

Ingredients

  • 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 13 oz linguine
  • 4 strips thick-cut bacon
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 1/2 tbsp chopped fresh basil
  • salt and fresh cracked pepper (optional)
  • 4 eggs
  • 3/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • salt and fresh cracked pepper (optional)
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream (optional)

Steps

  1. Boil a large pot of salted water, cook the linguine until tender, and reserve 1 cup pasta water before draining.
  2. Cook the bacon in a 12-inch skillet over medium heat for 5 minutes, then transfer it to a plate.
  3. Cook the chicken in the skillet for 7 to 9 minutes, turning once, until it reaches 165 F.
  4. Add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds, then cut the chicken into bite-size pieces.
  5. Whisk the eggs, Parmesan, cream, pepper, and 1/2 cup pasta water in a bowl.
  6. Toss the hot linguine, chicken, bacon, and egg mixture in the skillet over low heat for 3 minutes, until the eggs are firm.
  7. Stir in the basil and add more pasta water if the sauce needs thinning.
