Ingredients
- 3 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp fine sea salt
- 2 sticks unsalted butter
- 1 1/4 cups light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 8 oz semi-sweet ghirardelli chocolate baking bars (optional)
- optional: flaked sea salt for sprinkling
Steps
- Whisk the flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
- Beat the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until creamy, then mix in the vanilla and eggs.
- Stir the dry mixture into the butter mixture, then fold in the chopped chocolate.
- Chill the dough for 30 minutes while heating the oven to 350 F.
- Scoop 24 portions onto baking sheets and bake in batches for 10 to 12 minutes, until the edges are set.
- Cool the cookies on the sheets for 5 minutes before moving them.
