Ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup water
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 cups apples
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tbsp butter
- 3 tbsp milk
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 cups confectioners sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
Steps
- Heat the oven to 350 F and grease a 9-by-13-inch baking pan.
- Whisk the flour, brown sugar, salt, baking soda, and cinnamon in a large bowl.
- Boil the butter and water for 1 minute, pour them into the flour mixture, and stir until smooth.
- Stir in the apples, eggs, sour cream, and vanilla, then spread the batter in the pan.
- Bake for 25 to 28 minutes, until the center is firm and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Boil the remaining butter, milk, and brown sugar for 2 minutes, whisk in the confectioners' sugar and vanilla, and spread the frosting over the warm cake.
