Ingredients
- 6 tbsp butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 3/4 cup unbleached all purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp ground ginger
- 1/4 tsp ground white pepper
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup sliced almonds (optional)
Steps
- Beat butter and brown sugar until smooth.
- Mix flour, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, nutmeg, cloves, ginger, and white pepper in a separate bowl.
- Stir the dry mixture and milk into the butter mixture, then fold in the almonds.
- Wrap the dough and chill it for 60 minutes.
- Heat the oven to 350 F, roll the dough 1/4 inch thick, and cut it into cookies.
- Bake the cookies on greased baking sheets for 10 to 12 minutes, then cool them for 10 minutes.
