Ingredients
- 200 g / 7oz unsalted butter
- 200 g / 7oz dark chocolate / semi sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 395 g / 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
- 2 tbsp golden syrup or maple syrup
- 60 g / 2 oz unsalted butter
- 1 tsp salt
Steps
- Heat the oven to 350 F and line a 9-inch square pan with baking paper.
- Melt the condensed milk, golden syrup, 60 g butter, and salt in a saucepan over medium heat for 8 minutes, stirring often.
- Melt the remaining butter and chocolate, then whisk in the brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
- Stir in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt, then spread half the batter in the pan.
- Spread the warm caramel over the batter, cover it with the remaining batter, and bake for 28 minutes.
- Cool the brownies in the pan for 10 minutes before cutting them into 16 pieces.
