- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/3 cup rainbow sprinkles
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter
- 4 oz cream cheese
- 6 cups confectioners' sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 generous pinches salt

Steps
- Heat the oven to 350 F and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Whisk the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
- Beat 1 cup butter and sugar in a large bowl, then beat in the eggs and vanilla.
- Mix in the dry ingredients and buttermilk in alternating additions, then fold in 1/3 cup sprinkles.
- Divide the batter between the pans and bake for 28 to 32 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool the cakes completely, then beat the remaining butter, cream cheese, confectioners' sugar, vanilla, and salt into frosting.
- Stack and frost the cakes, then cover the top and sides with the remaining rainbow sprinkles.
