Cookie Dough Cupcakes

Ingredients

  • 1 betty crocker supermoist butter recipe yellow cake mix
  • 1 container betty crocker chocolate frosting or homemade chocolate frosting
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips
  • optional 1/4 package of pillsbury refrigerated cookie dough for cookie garnishes

Steps

  1. Heat the oven to 350 F and line an 18-cup muffin pan with paper liners.
  2. Beat butter, brown sugar, vanilla, flour, salt, and milk until smooth, then fold in the mini chocolate chips.
  3. Prepare the yellow cake mix with water as directed on its package.
  4. Fill each liner halfway with cake batter, add a small spoonful of cookie dough, and cover with more batter.
  5. Bake for 18 to 20 minutes, until the cupcakes spring back when pressed lightly.
  6. Cool the cupcakes completely, then spread chocolate frosting over each one.
