- 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 cups white granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 4 oz butter
- 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
Steps
- Heat the oven to 350 F and grease a 9-by-13-inch baking pan with cooking oil.
- Whisk the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar in a large bowl.
- Whisk in the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla, then stir in the boiling water until smooth.
- Pour the batter into the pan and bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool the cake completely for 20 minutes before frosting it.
- Beat the butter, cocoa powder, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth, then spread the frosting over the cake.
