Ingredients
- 8 cups yellow/waxy potatoes
- 5 tbsp butter
- 4 cloves garlic minced
- 5 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 cup cream
- 2 cups milk
- 3 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup panko crumbs
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
Steps
- Heat the oven to 375 F and grease a 9-by-13-inch baking dish with cooking oil.
- Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat, cook the garlic for 1 minute, whisk in the flour, then add the cream and milk.
- Cook the sauce for 5 minutes, stirring, then mix in 2 cups cheddar, salt, and pepper.
- Layer the sliced potatoes and cheese sauce in the baking dish, cover tightly with foil, and bake for 45 minutes.
- Mix the remaining cheddar with panko and Parmesan, sprinkle it over the potatoes, and bake uncovered for 15 minutes.
