Ingredients
- 1 large red onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1/4 tsp cumin seeds
- 1/4 tsp coriander seeds
- 3 peppercorns
- 2 whole cloves
- 1/4 tsp sea salt
- 1 lb ground bison meat
- 1/2 cup cooked rice
- 10 large basil leaves
- 1 tsp canola oil
- 1/2 tsp fish sauce
- hoisin sauce
Steps
- Heat the oven to 400 F and lightly oil a 9-by-13-inch baking dish.
- Finely chop the onion, garlic, and basil, then crush the cumin, coriander, peppercorns, cloves, and salt.
- Mix the seasonings, onion, garlic, basil, rice, fish sauce, and bison until just combined.
- Shape the mixture into meatballs and place them in the baking dish.
- Bake for 20 minutes, turning once, until the centers reach 160 F.
- Brush the meatballs with hoisin sauce and bake for 5 more minutes.
