Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp sea salt
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 8 tbsp cold butter
- 1 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup cold buttermilk
- 1 lb bacon (optional)
- 1/3 cup chopped fresh chives
Steps
- Heat the oven to 425 F and line a baking sheet with cooking oil.
- Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat for 8 to 10 minutes, then crumble it.
- Whisk the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and onion powder in a large bowl.
- Cut in the cold butter until the mixture looks crumbly, then stir in the cheese, bacon, and chives.
- Stir in the cold buttermilk just until a dough forms, then drop 10 portions onto the baking sheet.
- Bake for 15 to 18 minutes, until the biscuits are golden and cooked through.
