- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp heavy cream
- 1 gala apple
- kosher salt
- 1 cup blueberries (optional)
- 4 eggs
- 2 tbsp heavy cream
- 1/2 tsp freshly grated nutmeg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 8 slices thick sliced bread
Steps
- Melt the butter in a 12-inch skillet over medium heat, then stir in the brown sugar and heavy cream.
- Cook the sliced apple in the skillet for 4 minutes, stirring until tender, and stir in the blueberries if using.
- Whisk the eggs, heavy cream, nutmeg, vanilla, and a pinch of salt in a shallow dish.
- Dip each bread slice in the egg mixture for 10 seconds per side.
- Cook the bread in the skillet for 3 minutes per side, until golden and the eggs are firm.
