Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup black beans
  • 1 1/4 cup rice
  • 2 tbsp onion
  • 2 tbsp pepper
  • 2 tbsp cilantro
  • 1/2 tsp salsa lizano
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/4 tsp pepper

Steps

  1. Rinse the black beans, place them in a medium pot, cover them with water, and bring them to a boil.
  2. Lower the heat, cover the pot, and simmer the beans for 30 minutes until tender.
  3. Cook the rice in a separate covered pot with water according to its package timing, about 15 minutes.
  4. Heat cooking oil in a large skillet over medium heat, then cook the onion and pepper for 3 minutes.
  5. Add the beans, rice, salt, cumin, pepper, and Lizano sauce, then stir and cook for 5 minutes.
  6. Stir in the cilantro and cook for 1 minute.
