Ingredients
- 3 1/2 slices cooked bacon
- 3 cups broccoli florets
- 8 oz dry pasta
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup all purpose flour
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/8 tsp black pepper
- additional salt and pepper (optional)
Steps
- Boil salted water in a large pot, cook the pasta until nearly tender, and add the broccoli during the last 3 minutes.
- Drain the pasta and broccoli, then return them to the warm pot.
- Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat, whisk in the flour, and cook for 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in the milk, salt, garlic powder, and pepper, then cook for 4 to 5 minutes until thick.
- Stir in the cheddar until melted, then fold the sauce and chopped cooked bacon into the pasta and broccoli.
